Mai Al Remeithi Emirati , b. 2000
This work offers an abstract reimagining of road systems in Abu Dhabi and Dubai,
created through a blend of digital manipulation, layered composition, and tactile
material experimentation. By tracing key road fragments that played a vital role in the
UAE’s rapid urban expansion, the piece transforms symbols of infrastructure and
movement into poetic visual forms.
Lines and intersections—once utilitarian markers of city planning—are
deconstructed and reassembled through delicate thread work and textured layering.
These gestures evoke not only the visible geometry of the city, but also the unseen
routes shaped by memory, time, and personal experience. The work becomes a
quiet meditation on transformation, mapping the invisible emotional and historical
pathways embedded within the urban fabric.
This artwork offers an abstract interpretation of the roadways that define Abu Dhabi
and Dubai’s urban fabric. Through digital manipulation, layering, and material
experimentation, the composition traces major road fragments integral to the UAE’s
rapid development.
