Of the Palm? examines the palm not as a fixed symbol, but as a material that exists through multiple states, uses, and transformations. The series approaches the palm through its fibers, surfaces, fragments, and cycles, considering how materials carry histories beyond their original function.

Handmade palm paper serves as both medium and subject. Embedded within the paper are the physical traces of the palm itself, preserving the memory of the material while simultaneously transforming it. Through laser engraving, a contemporary digital process, precise marks are inscribed onto hand-formed surfaces, creating a dialogue between technological intervention and organic matter.

The works explore the palm as something in constant transition. It bends, fragments, transforms, and ultimately returns to the cycle from which it emerged. Rather than presenting a singular identity, the series documents variations and states of becoming, treating each work as a fragment of a larger continuum.

Through this process, the palm becomes a site of memory and preservation. Even as its original function recedes, traces of its histories remain embedded within the material. The series reflects on cycles of transformation, where beginnings and endings converge, and where material itself becomes a means of recording, holding, and re-seeing the world.
