Salmah Almansoori Emirati , b. 2001
I Was a Forgotten Moment explores abandoned compositions encountered in everyday life, examining how time reshapes overlooked objects and weaves them into the landscapes they inhabit. What was once discarded becomes inseparable from its surroundings, carrying traces of its past while taking on new meaning. Through these paintings, Almansoori draws attention to the quiet histories embedded within ordinary places.
Working from objects she encounters in her daily life, Almansoori creates imagined landscapes that blur the line between observation and memory. Fragments of forgotten materials are brought together to form compositions that reflect on loss, presence, and the ways in which places and objects absorb the passage of time.
Rather than documenting what is seen, the series reimagines these overlooked moments, allowing them to exist beyond their original context. In doing so, Almansoori invites viewers to slow down and consider the beauty, resilience, and stories that can be found in what is so often passed by unnoticed.
