Tallaa's artist books form the foundation of his practice, intimate, handmade objects created from recycled materials, raw canvas, and layered gestures. Described by the artist as "obsessions within a notebook or a diary," they reveal ideas in their most immediate and unfiltered state, where forms emerge through observation rather than predetermined intention. Accompanying studies on paper extend this process, capturing spontaneous gestures that exist alongside, rather than prepare for, the larger portraits. Together, these works offer a direct insight into Tallaa's evolving creative process, from instinctive mark-making to the slow accumulation of form.
