The reclining figure rests within the branches of a cedar tree, becoming inseparable from the landscape itself. Here, the body is not simply sheltered by nature, it is woven into it.

Throughout Sarine Semerjian's practice, the cedar tree appears as a recurring symbol of endurance, rootedness and cultural continuity, connecting the artist to her Armenian heritage while reflecting the ways identity is carried across generations.

Wrapped around the trunk, a luminous ribbon suggests the invisible threads that bind memory, ancestry and lived experience. Rather than depicting rest as an ending, the work presents it as a state of quiet transformation, a space where healing, growth and belonging unfold beneath the surface.
