Khozema Al-Aaed
Part of Al Aaed’s Cities Series, this work reimagines the Seven Emirates not as fixed territories but as vessels of memory. Each of the seven panels moves beyond cartographic outline to explore identity, history, and collective consciousness through layered material form.
References to vernacular architecture, barjeel towers, falaj systems, palm trees, and Arabic coffee anchor the works in heritage while remaining in dialogue with contemporary transformation. Embedded text becomes structural rather than descriptive, reinforcing place as lived experience. These are not traditional maps, but emotional cartographies of belonging.
