Firetti Contemporary is pleased to announce the installation of three commissioned paintings by Emirati artist Salmah Almansoori from her series I Was a Forgotten Moment (2026), now on view on the 15th floor of The Gate Building at Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Almansoori's artistic practice is deeply rooted in her relationship with place, memory and the subtle traces of human presence within the landscape. Beginning with the simple act of walking, observing and documenting her surroundings, the artist encounters objects that have been left behind or forgotten: a discarded blanket, an abandoned toy or fragments of everyday life that once held personal significance. These seemingly ordinary discoveries become points of departure for a broader reflection on the relationship between the body, the spaces we inhabit and the memories they preserve.
In I Was a Forgotten Moment, Almansoori translates these encounters into paintings characterised by fluid, organic forms and a delicate interplay of colour. Moving between abstraction and suggestion, her compositions evoke the fleeting nature of memory, where forms appear to emerge, dissolve and intertwine. Rather than depicting these objects literally, the artist explores the emotions, histories and associations they leave behind, offering them a renewed sense of presence.
Installed within the architectural setting of The Gate Building, the three paintings introduce a contemplative dialogue between art and the everyday environment. They invite viewers to pause amid the rhythm of daily life, encouraging a closer consideration of the overlooked details and quiet histories embedded within our surroundings.
Through this commission, Almansoori continues her exploration of belonging, remembrance and the ways in which places carry the imprints of those who have passed through them.
