Taher Jaoui

Born in 1978 in Tunis, Taher Jaoui is an artist who began his creative journey after graduating from Sorbonne University in Paris in 2007. Initially drawn to science, he made a transition into the art world in 2013, experimenting with collages made from old photographs.
Jaoui's work is heavily influenced by graffiti art, street art, African primitive art, cartoons, as well as the philosophy and attitude of abstract expressionism. He creates his pieces following a creative process based on intuition and the unconscious, resulting in rich assemblages of layered forms, vibrant colors, expressive gestures, and mathematical signs and formulas.
Jaoui's paintings are a continuation of the legacy of abstract expressionism, captivating and labor-intensive works that reflect the artist's unique perspective. He currently lives and works in Madrid, Spain.
